Brandon Marshall sends stern warning to Josh McDaniels after Darren Waller trade

The Las Vegas Raiders have traded away star tight end Darren Waller to the New York Giants. The move came as a surprise for the Raiders, who were expected to go full steam ahead with Jimmy Garoppolo as their quarterback.

When healthy, Waller is one of the best tight ends in the league, which is why nobody saw this trade coming. Former NFL player Brandon Marshall is upset with Josh McDaniels’ decision to part ways with Waller, and he sent him a stern warning.

Here’s what Brandon Marshall said:

“Why did they trade Waller?… This is a prime example, it’s not about the players, it’s about my plays. Darren Waller just before this year’s last year started, we were saying he was the best tight end and we weren’t talking about Travis Kelce.”

“We’re talking about Waller. Now he’s gone, Derek Carr’s gone if this dude, listen, if Josh McDaniels don’t turn the team around this year, his a** needs to be fired and banned from the NFL. You can’t even be an offensive coordinator. Wow, what are you doing? This is your second time around you do the same thing.”

The departure of Waller has made the Las Vegas Raiders’ offense significantly weaker, and all eyes will be on McDaniels, who is under a lot of pressure. He brought in Jimmy Garoppolo after parting ways with Derek Carr, and it could backfire on him.

Garoppolo has had a good relationship with McDaniels since his days with the New England Patriots, and he will hope to keep his head coach’s job safe next season.

The New York Giants signed Daniel Jones to an extension, and Saquon Barkley will be back next season as well but Darren Waller will be the focal point of their offense next season. The addition of Waller will provide Jones with a safety blanket that he can rely on to improve his game.

Waller played in just 10 games last season, recording 28 catches for 388 yards and three touchdowns. Injuries have hampered Waller’s ability to become the best player in his position, but a fresh start may help him stay on track.
